Terms of Use

By using Sherlock you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 18 years old.

Sherlock searches publicly available information to help you verify identities for personal safety and verification — for example, confirming a dating match or spotting a borrowed profile photo. It surfaces evidence and confidence-scored matches; the conclusions you draw are your own.

Sherlock is not a consumer reporting agency and the information it returns is not a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You may not use Sherlock or its results to make decisions about employment, housing, credit, insurance, or any other purpose governed by the FCRA.

You agree not to use Sherlock to:

harass, stalk, threaten, defame, or intimidate anyone; violate anyone's privacy or applicable law; identify individuals for unlawful discrimination; or scrape, resell, or republish results as a public directory. You are solely responsible for how you act on what you find.

You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for the photos you submit — you confirm you have the right to use them for a search. Submitted photos are deleted after the search, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Paid features are billed as described at purchase. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; you can manage or cancel through the platform you bought them on (for example, the App Store). Statutory refund rights still apply.

Sherlock is provided "as is." Matches are scored by similarity and may include false positives or miss results; they are leads to verify, not proof. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sherlock is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for how you choose to use search results.
